One wild-caught pregnant female lived 2.3 years in captivity and may have been over 3 years old at the time of death; signs of ageing in this female were irregular patches of moulting in its second year of life [1083]. It is also possible, though unverified, that these animals live up to 4 years [0610], just like similar species. Females may mate as young as 2 months of age. Males typically mate in their second year of life.
