GenAge entry for LMNB1 (Homo sapiens)
Gene name (HAGRID: 181)
- HGNC symbol
- LMNB1
- Aliases
- Common name
- lamin B1
Potential relevance to the human ageing process
- Main reason for selection
- Entry selected based on evidence linking the gene product to a pathway or mechanism linked to ageing
- Description
LMNAB1 is, like LMNA, part of the nuclear lamina [1001]. LMNB1-null mice die shortly after birth [1724]. If the nuclear lamina is a player in human ageing, as some results from LMNA suggest [1307], then it is possible that LMNB1 also plays some role in human ageing.
