GenAge entry for DGAT1 (Homo sapiens)
Entry selected based on evidence directly linking the gene product to ageing in a mammalian model organism
Gene name (HAGRID: 291)
- HGNC symbol
- DGAT1
- Aliases
- ARGP1; DGAT
- Common name
- diacylglycerol O-acyltransferase 1
Potential relevance to the human ageing process
- Main reason for selection
- Entry selected based on evidence directly linking the gene product to ageing in a mammalian model organism
- Description
DGAT1 is an enzyme involved in triglyceride synthesis and metabolism. Knockout of DGAT1 in female mice results in an extended lifespan of about 23% [3249]. As such, DGAT1 might play some role in ageing, though human studies are lacking.
