Description: NR3C1 is a glucocorticoid receptor that modulates the expression of glucocorticoid-responsive genes. Mice with reduced NR3C1 function show behavioural changes indicative of cognitive impairment [1025], and in rats neurodegeneration has been associated with NR3C1 [1031]. A direct role in human ageing has not been demonstrated.
